80th anniversary: New memorial brochure informs about Jewish "Days of fate"

titelneuAltenburg author Christian Repkewitz returns with a new memorial brochure for the 80th anniversary of the so-called Polenaktion. "Days of fate", as the current publication is titled, is dedicated to the events of the three state-directed anti-Semitic actions of 1938 - the "Juniaktion", the "Polenaktion" and the Pogrom Night - in the County of Altenburg.

The author was also able to close an information gap. For the first time in a publication the complete list of residents of the County of Altenburg who were affected by the "Polenaktion", a mass expulsion of Jews across the German-Polish border, can be read. Even on the Pogrom Night, which threatened the physical health and property of Jews in Altenburg, Gößnitz, Meuselwitz and Rositz (towns and villages in the County of Altenburg), new information can be found. For example, those affected have their say in it and also post-war investigations are handled.

The 100-page memorial brochure will be bilingual - in German and in English. In addition to some unpublished images, illustrations by the British artist Anthony Lowe (who lives in the County of Altenburg) enriches the publication. "Days of fate" will be publicly presented on October 28, 2018, 11 am, as part of a matinee at the Paul-Gustavus-Haus, Wallstraße 29, 04600 Altenburg. The publication date is not chosen randomly, it marks the 80th anniversary of the "Polenaktion".

The brochure will be available for the price of 11,90 Euro on the website of the author and the book trade (ISBN 978-3-00-061146-9).
